BRIEF: Billy Corgan adopts 2 rescue kittens from PAWS

June 10--Meet the rock cats.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan adopted two female kittens this week from the PAWS North Shore Adoption Center in Highland Park, PAWS communications manager Sarah Marlene McDonald said.

Corgan, a longtime Highland Park resident, adopted a calico he named Angelface and a tortoiseshell he named Diamond Baby. The kittens join his other cat Mr. Thom, a rescue Corgan adopted from PAWS in 2004, and Chin Chin and Ling Ling, chocolate Labradors with Shar-Pei mix.

Sammi, a cat Corgan adopted from PAWS 11 years ago, died in March. "I'll admit it's been very tough on me since we lost Sammi, but thanks to @PAWSchicago I've got 2 new, healthy kittens to chase after!," Corgan tweeted.

Both kittens did suffer from earlier health problems, McDonald said. Diamond Baby underwent hernia surgery while Angelface was given up with her litter, and arrived to PAWS in a cardboard box at a young age, McDonald said. She suffered from an upper respiratory infection.

Fans of Mr. Thom can follow the cat on Twitter @MrThomandSammi. No word if Angelface and Diamond Baby will also be joining Twitter.
