BRIEF: Big Ten, Big East matchups set for Gavitt Tipoff

April 22--The Big East and Big Ten conferences announced matchups on Wednesday for the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff games next season.

Illinois will play at Providence on Nov. 18, the first meeting since the 2003-04 season. DePaul heads to Penn State on Nov. 17 with a 6-0 record against the Nittany Lions.

The other games include Nov. 17 contests of Georgetown at Maryland and Nebraska at Villanova. Games on Nov. 19 include Creighton at Indiana, Iowa at Marquette and Rutgers at St. John's. Xavier will play at Michigan on Nov. 20.

Start times and television broadcast information will be assigned at a later date. Big East home games will be on Fox Sports 1, and Big Ten home games will be on the Big Ten Network or an ESPN network.

The showcase of games is a non-conference series played between the conferences in honor of the late Dave Davitt, who founded the Big East.
