BRIEF: Big gators par for the course at Florida club

March 11--Forget about birdies and eagles, a Florida golf course is hoping to lure players with its gators.

The Myakka Pines Golf Club posted photos of a huge alligator roaming across one of its greens this week and the images quickly went viral.

"If it's really cold you might not see one," General Manager Mickie Zada told Darren Rovell of ESPN.com. "But if there's any sunshine at all, it would be impossible for you to play 18 and not see a gator."

The website for the club, located along Florida's west coast, not far from the Everglades, further explains that it is "very common to see a variety of birds and different animals during a round of golf."

Zada insisted that the most recent alligator pictures were not altered and said there have been no incidents between the creatures and golfers over the past 37 years.
