BRIEF: Bicyclist killed by semi in Lansing

Nov. 13--A bicyclist was killed early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a semitrailer in south suburban Lansing, officials said.

The bicyclist was hit about 5:15 a.m. on the ramp connecting southbound Torrence Avenue and eastbound I-80/94, according to Illinois State Police.

The bicyclist was dead on the scene, state police said.

He was later identified as Gene Allen Scow Jr., 46, of the 100 block of Hillcrest Lane in Bartlett, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The ramp was temporarily closed to traffic, state police said.

State Police have not been able to determine why the bicyclist was on the ramp, and no citations have been issued in the accident, a State Police spokeswoman said late Wednesday.
