BRIEF: Beware the rubber chicken! 'Batsu!' Japanese dinner theater coming to Chicago

May 12--A new dinner-theater show based on a happily sadistic and slapstick Japanese game show is coming to Chicago, offering Midwestern revelers the chance to eat Sushi in the company of a quartet of warriors fending off paintballs, electric shocks and a rubber chicken.

Titled "Batsu!" (which means "punishment" or "penalty" in Japanese) and performed by a group called Face Off Unlimited, the new semi-improvised attraction will be staged on Thursday and Friday evenings at the Kamehachi restaurant, 1531 N. Wells St., in Old Town. A similar production has been running in New York's East Village for some time, where it's a popular option for group outings.
