April 23--Everybody knows how tough it can be to dine at Elizabeth restaurant (4835 N. Western Ave.). Terrific, creative food and a 24-seat dining space will do that.
Well, chef/owner Iliana Regan and Food Wine restaurant editor Kate Krader are planning a unique collaboration, and you won't need a ticket. Just good timing.
From noon to 3 p.m. May 2 (the day of the James Beard Foundation Awards, which will be held that evening in Chicago), Regan and Krader will serve an a la carte lunch. The menu will be a "best of" selection of Regan signatures, including her foie-gras owls on brioche, mushroom tea, sourdough boules and whiskey-glazed doughnuts.
Regan will be cooking, of course. Krader will serve as the Most Overqualified Counter Girl Ever.
It'll be first-come, first-served and super casual (Regan's words).
