BRIEF: Best Buy store on North Side burglarized in smash-and-grab incident

Jan. 04--A Best Buy store on the North Side was burglarized during a smash-and-grab incident early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 4:45 a.m., a Dodge Caravan struck one of the windows in the Best Buy store, located in the Park West neighborhood at 2650 N. Clark St., police said.

Several male offenders got out of the car, stole an unknown number of items from the store and fled, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

At the scene, a dark-colored van stood halfway inside one of the store's windows that face Clark Street. Some of the car's airbags inside apparently went off during the crash.

Police blocked off a section of the sidewalk with yellow tape and knocked on doors of nearby businesses to see if anyone witnessed the incident.

The store does have surveillance video inside, police said.

No one is in custody as a result of the incident.
