Jan. 11--A Berkeley BART station briefly closed Monday morning after maintenance crews discovered a severed human foot on the tracks, officials said. There is no suspicion of foul play.
Around 3 a.m., track workers in the Downtown Berkeley BART station were performing standard work when they discovered the foot, said Jim Allison, BART spokesman. The foot is believed to belong to a woman who was hit by a train on Dec. 20 and lost the lower part of her right leg.

"This was a right foot," Allison said. "All signs point to the fact that this is probably the same foot."
The woman in the December incident survived.
The coroner's office was contacted but did not immediately respond. A professional service disposed of the foot, Allison said. The station was briefly closed, but there were no service impacts.
