May 12--The Chicago Cubs lost consecutive games for the first time this season, but Ben Zobrist didn't lose his sense of humor after making the final out in Wednesday night's 1-0 loss to the San Diego Padres in the second game of a doubleheader.
Zobrist grounded out to closer Fernando Rondey with two out and the tying run at second base. After throwing to first base, Rodney celebrated with his traditional imaginary arrow that he shoots to the sky.
But after crossing first base and starting to return to the dugout, Zobrist jumped up with both hands in an attempt to block Rodney's imaginary arrow.
Zobrist and Rodney, who played together with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2012-2013, high-fived each other quickly before leaving the field.
"I feel if I got close enough, I could knock it down," Zobrist joked.
