BRIEF: Bears' Week 1 roster younger than last year's

Sept. 16--The Chicago Bears fielded a significantly younger Week 1 roster under general manager Ryan Pace than they did a year ago with Phil Emery overseeing the team.

The Bears' 53 players last Sunday averaged 26.04 years, which ranked as the 19th-oldest roster in the NFL, according to figures released by the league Wednesday.

By comparison, the Bears had the oldest Week 1 roster in the 32-team league a year ago, averaging 27.08 years.

The Bears' rankings in other categories were as follows:

- NFL experience: T-20th (4.02 years)

- Number of rookies and first-year players: T-6th-most (12)

- Number of players 30 years old or older: T-10th-most (9)

- Height: T-8th tallest

- Weight: 12th-heaviest (248.87 pounds)

Also worth noting, the Bears led the league with 12 players who weigh less than 200 pounds.
