BRIEF: Bears sign former Arena League receiver A.J. Cruz

July 28--Less than 48 hours before the Chicago Bears will report to training camp in Bourbonnais, the team filled out its 90-man roster.

Wide receiver A.J. Cruz was signed according to the Twitter account of his agent, a move that gives the club another option in the return game as well.

Cruz was with the Arizona Rattlers in his second season in the Arena League and was a three-time All-Ivy League performer at Brown. The 5-9, 195-pounder also played defensive back and started as a professional in 2014 with the L.A. KISS.

The addition of Cruz gives the team 12 wide receivers on the depth chart. Expect there to be plenty of comings and goings with the 90-man roster but this could bode well for the health of the offensive line with camp about ready to open. The Bears were missing multiple players up front at the conclusion of the offseason program but have not yet made moves there to fortify. Maybe that is because it isn't necessary.
