Sept. 06--The Chicago Bears began revising their 53-man roster Sunday by claiming defensive back Harold Jones-Quartey and offensive lineman Patrick Omameh off waivers.
They have until 3 p.m. to clear two roster spots to make room for them.
Omameh started all 16 games at right guard last season for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers line that surrendered 52 sacks.
An undrafted free agent out of Michigan in 2013, Omameh had been playing tackle in training camp. His experience at both positions makes him a factor in the Bears' uncertain right tackle/right guard equation.
Jones-Quartey is an undrafted rookie out of Division II Findlay known for his raw athleticism.
Of the 15 players the Bears waived Saturday, only outside linebacker David Bass was claimed. He'll join the Tennessee Titans instead of the Bears' practice squad.
The Bears could make more changes Sunday by tapping into the free-agent market following Saturday's final cuts. They also will sign their 10-man practice squad Sunday afternoon.
