BRIEF: Bears retain receivers coach Mike Groh

Jan. 30--New Bears head coach John Fox retained receivers coach Mike Groh from the previous staff, the team announced Friday.

With Groh as position coach, Alshon Jeffery had 1,421 receiving yards in 2013 and 1,133 last season. Brandon Marshall, who has expressed his affinity for Groh on numerous occasions, had 1,295 yards during a healthy 2013 campaign.

Groh joined the Bears in 2013 following two seasons as the University of Alabama's receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.

He is the second coach from Marc Trestman's staff to be retained. Fox also kept Clint Hurtt, moving him from assistant defensive line coach to outside linebackers.

Running backs coach is the only position yet to be finalized. Skip Peete coached the Bears' running backs under Trestman.
