March 08--Chicago Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery has signed his franchise tag tender, the team announced Tuesday morning.
That's merely a procedural development but a positive one at that, assuring that Jeffery won't be a holdout from training camp or beyond in protest of the tag.
The Bears placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jeffery last week, a move that positions the fifth-year receiver to earn $14.599 million next season if he plays under the tag. Jeffery's camp and the Bears still have until July 15 to come to an agreement on a longer-term deal and will continue their talks and negotiations in the weeks and months ahead.
