March 31--The Chicago Bears continued their free agency efforts Thursday with yet another reunion. Safety Omar Bolden, who played for coach John Fox from 2012-14 in Denver, agreed to a one-year deal after a visit with the Bears in Lake Forest. The signing was first reported by the Denver Post.
Bolden entered the league as a fourth-round pick out of Arizona State in 2012. He played in 56 games over his first four seasons with the Broncos, primarily used on special teams. His arrival will add depth to the Bears' special teams and the secondary and continues a trend in which the team has targeted several players with whom someone in the front office or on the coaching staff has previous ties to.
Linebacker Danny Trevathan, long snapper Aaron Brewer and offensive lineman Manny Ramirez played under Fox with the Broncos and signed on with the Bears earlier this month. Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks spent three seasons in New Orleans while general manager Ryan Pace was there. The Bears also made efforts to sign two restricted free agents -- Broncos running back C.J. Anderson and Saints tight end Josh Hill -- who had familiarity with either Fox or Pace.
