BRIEF: Bears part ways with pro personnel director

Jan. 13--Bears general manager Ryan Pace has begun shaking up the personnel department in his first week on the job.

Kevin Turks, the team's director of pro personnel for the last two seasons, was let go Monday. He had been with the team since 2001.

Pace came to the job Thursday with a list of colleagues he hopes to bring with him. Turks' departure signals that transition is underway.

Turks was the Bears' assistant director of pro personnel from 2008-2012, when former general manager Phil Emery promoted him. He was a pro scout from 2002-2008 and an intern in 2001. His primary responsibilities included evaluating professional players and scouting opponents.

Turks' dismissal was first reported by Zach Zaidman, the Bears radio network's sideline reporter.
