BRIEF: Bears name Ben Wilkerson assistant offensive line coach

Feb. 11--The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday that Ben Wilkerson will be joining John Fox's staff as the assistant offensive line coach.

Wilkerson, who enjoyed a three-season NFL career from 2006-08 with the Bengals and Falcons, will be embarking on his first coaching gig in the league after spending four seasons coaching in the high school and college ranks.

Last season, Wilkerson was an assistant coach at North Shore Senior High School in Texas. He also spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons as the offensive line coach at Grambling State and was an offensive graduate assistant and administrative intern during a two-season stop at Louisiana State University, where he played his college ball.

Wilkerson will work closely with new Bears offensive line coach Dave Magazu.

The Bears also formally announced Wednesday that Pat Meyer, the offensive-line coach under former head coach Marc Trestman, and Chris Harris, a defensive quality control coach, would not be returning to the staff for 2015.
