BRIEF: Bears' loss clinches No. 7 draft slot

Dec. 28--MINNEAPOLIS -- There was at least one bright side to the Chicago Bears' season-ending 13-9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday: They secured the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by finishing with a 5-11 record.

It will be their best draft positioning since 2005, when they selected running back Cedric Benson fourth overall.

The Redskins were the only other team that could have tied the Bears at 5-11, but the result of their game became moot once the Bears lost because the Redskins entered Week 17 having clinched an easier strength of schedule than the Bears.
