Aug. 20--The Chicago Bears have given Charles Leno work with the starting unit during training camp but it came when left tackle Jermon Bushrod was getting time off to rest his back.
On Thursday, the Bears went with a new look, plugging Leno in with the first unit at right tackle in the joint practice with the Colts. He replaced Jordan Mills, who spent his time working with the second team before he left practice early with what coach John Fox said was a calf injury.
The most recently released depth chart has Mills, who has started 29 games the last two seasons, as the starter but that could change. It will be interesting to see which player starts Saturday's second preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium or if the coaching staff makes the decision to play both with the first team.
The bottom line right now is with 24 days until the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, the Bears are not completely committed at right tackle.
Another option would be moving two-time Pro Bowl right guard Kyle Long to right tackle and playing Vladimir Ducasse at guard. But the longer the team waits, the less likely it seems they would introduce Long to a new position.
