May 01--The Bears entered the NFL draft with nine picks and some interest in a quarterback class that general manager Ryan Pace labeled as both deep and intriguing. Yet the Bears didn't select a quarterback over the last three days and instead quickly turned their attention elsewhere to add depth.
The team finalized a one-year deal to bring in Brian Hoyer, Pace said Saturday evening. The veteran quarterback spent last season with the Texans and will be heading into his eighth NFL season with his sixth team. He has 26 total starts, including 13 with the Browns in 2014.
Hoyer's 19-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio with the Houston Texans last season appealed to Pace. So did Hoyer's history with Bears offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. They were together with Cleveland in 2014.
