March 24--Two top European soccer teams will play an International Champions Cup match at Soldier Field on July 27.
German league power Bayern Munich and Italian side AC Milan will play at 8 p.m., one of 15 Cup matches spread among seven dates and at least 12 venues across the United States and Europe this summer, with some locations yet to be announced.
It also marks the third consecutive year the Cup has played at Soldier Field. Last year, Paris Saint-Germain handed Manchester United its first Cup loss.
Chicago is "without a doubt one of the premier cover markets in the U.S. and typically a city that we look for," Relevent Sports spokesman Ben Spencer said via email. "Last year's sellout (of 61,545) between PSG and Manchester United was one of the top ICC matches."
For this summer's match, fans can register for a March 29 presale at internationalchampionscup.com. General admission tickets go on sale April 5.
Bayern played Soldier Field in 2004, playing Manchester United to a draw in regulation then winning a shootout 4-2. Milan beat the Fire 1-0 at Toyota Park on May 30, 2010.
