BRIEF: Barricaded suspects allegedly robbed Upland marijuana dispensary

Jan. 31--Five men who robbed a marijuana dispensary and shot an employee were barricaded in an Upland apartment Saturday morning, authorities said.

About 50 to 75 residents who live near the apartment in the 1400 block of Randy Street were evacuated and bused to a Red Cross shelter as a SWAT team from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department handled the situation.

At about 11 p.m. Friday night, the armed men entered the dispensary in the 700 block of Mountain Avenue in Upland, said Lt. John Moore of the Upland Police Department.

They tied up the employees, shooting one in the leg, before making off with marijuana and a car and holing up in an apartment about a half-mile away.

The employee who was shot is expected to recover, and the stolen car has been found, Moore said.
