BRIEF: Aya Fukai quits pastry chef gig at Sixteen at Trump hotel

Dec. 04--Aya Fukai, executive pastry chef at Sixteen (401 N. Wabash Ave.) since early 2014, is leaving.

A short notice from Sixteen restaurant, which is part of the Trump hotel in River North, said that Fukai was departing for "a new, global culinary opportunity." Further details were unavailable.

Fukai came to Sixteen in February 2014, replacing Patrick Fahy, who left to become executive pastry chef at The French Laundry. She will remain with Sixteen through the holiday season, departing in Janyuary 2016.

The search is on for a replacement.
