BRIEF: Avec expands to lunch service starting May 20

May 11--One of Chicago's toughest restaurant seats will now expand to lunch service.

Avec -- doing Mediterranean small plates with shared communal seating in the West Loop before 1) Mediterranean small plates 2) shared communal seating 3) opening in the West Loop was cool -- will start serving lunch beginning May 20. Beginning that Wednesday, lunch service will run 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays (615 W. Randolph St., 312-377-2002).

For longtime Avec-philes like myself, I'm most excited about its chorizo-stuffed dates interpreted as a burger. I'm told chef de cuisine Perry Hendrix will offer the avecburger: a chorizo and beef patty with bacon, date mostarda and piquillo pepper aioli.
