BRIEF: Autopsy: Woman found in Logan Square was strangled

April 20--The death of an unidentified woman found last week in the Logan Square neighborhood has been ruled a homicide, authorities said Monday.

An autopsy determined the woman, whose identity has not been made public, died of asphyxia from ligature strangulation, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. Her death was ruled a homicide.

She was discovered dead with an electrical cord around her neck in the 2500 block of West Moffat Street about 5:45 p.m. April 15, according to police and the medical examiner.

The medical examiner's office said they could not release the name of the woman, in her 50s, yet because her next of kin has not been notified.

No other details were immediately available.
