BRIEF: Autopsy: Man found dead on Roseland sidewalk was killed

Feb. 14--An autopsy Saturday afternoon ruled the death of a man who was found lying on a South Side sidewalk Friday night was a homicide.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, a 31-year-old man was discovered unresponsive and lying on the sidewalk in the 8600 block of South Holland Road in the city's Roseland neighborhood, said Chicago police spokesman Officer Thomas Sweeney.

According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, Cleveland Head, of the 9100 block of South Wentworth Street, was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the scene. Head was found dead about a mile away from his home. Court records indicate the man went by the names Cleveland and Cleven Head.

An autopsy Saturday revealed Head died of cervical dislocation due to blunt force trauma of the neck, according to the medical examiner's office.

As of 3:45 p.m., police were investigating.
