April 06--The death of a 56-year-old Cicero man in December has been attributed to the cold weather conditions, making him the season's 26th cold-related death, officials said.
Humberto Aguilar-Hernandez, of the 1300 block of South 48th Court in the near west suburb, died Dec. 29 and was pronounced dead at 9:35 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Aguilar-Hernandez was found in the 1500 block of South 48th Court about two blocks from his home, officials said.
An autopsy by the medical examiner's office determined that he died of hypothermia and environmental cold exposure. A secondary cause was cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and his death was ruled an accident, officials said.
Last winter -- during which Chicago had record-breaking low temperatures -- 32 cold-related deaths were counted in Cook County from Oct. 24, 2013, through April 3, 2014, officials said.
