BRIEF: Autopsy: Boy, 1, died of blunt force due to child abuse in Cicero

April 11--An autopsy conducted Friday determined that a 1-year-old Cicero boy died of child abuse, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The boy, Edwin O'Reilly Jr. of the 1600 block of South 49th Court, was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m. Thursday at MacNeal Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The child died of multiple blunt force injuries from child abuse, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to an autopsy conducted Friday. The incident took place at the boy's home, according to the medical examiner's office.

A Cicero spokesman said the case is being investigated but did not provide further information.

Officials with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services could not be immediately reached for comment.
