BRIEF: Authorities investigate attempted bank robbery in Deerfield

Feb. 05--The FBI on Friday was searching for a man who attempted to rob a bank in Deerfield on Thursday morning.

According to an FBI spokesman, the man entered Chase Bank in the 700 block of Waukegan Road about 7 a.m. at the same time as an employee and attempted a robbery.

But the man, who was armed, failed to get any money and left the bank, the spokesman said.

The man was described as possibly being black or Hispanic with a light complexion. He was wearing dark-colored pants, black boots and a black or dark-colored hooded jacket. He also had a patterned scarf around his head. Surveillance photos show that much of his face was covered.

The spokesman would not say if the man confronted the employee outside the bank or at another location.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
