BRIEF: Attempted luring reported in Archer Heights

Jan. 23--Police are warning the community after a man tried to lure a girl into his minivan Wednesday on the Southwest Side.

About 3:15 p.m. an "unknown male'' was seated inside a minivan parked in the 4700 block of South Komensky Avenue in the city's Archer Heights neighborhood when he told a girl her mother "told him to pick her up from school,'' according to a statement the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.

The girl refused and walked away, and the man fled in the minivan, which was described as having dents and scratches, the statement said.

Police offered no further description of the man except that he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information should contact Area Central detectives, 312-747-8380.
