Feb. 08--Law enforcement officials Sunday were trying to piece together what happened before a man killed his ex-wife and three others at an Atlanta-area home before turning the gun on himself.
Cedric Prather, 33, shot and killed his ex-wife, Latoya Andrews, and two children on Saturday, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said. Andrews' friend Joseph Brown, 33, also was killed and two adolescents were critically wounded, officials said.
Only the identities of the adults were released Sunday.
Police received a call about the shooting at the Douglasville, Ga., home around 3 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Glenn Daniel.
When police arrived, they found multiple fatalities.
Prather was taken to a hospital where he later died, Daniel said.
"It's a very tragic situation," Daniel said Saturday. "When you have children involved, it tugs at your heart. I've never seen anything like this in our county."
A news conference is scheduled for Monday, Daniel said.
Douglasville has a population of 30,000 and is about 20 miles west of Atlanta.
