May 14--An AT worker was declared dead after he was found unconscious on high-tension lines in the San Fernando Valley on Friday afternoon, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Investigators suspect the man suffered a medical emergency, but have not ruled out whether he came into contact with an electrical current, authorities said.
A fire department spokeswoman told City News Service that the victim was found dangling upside down when rescuers arrived and that the victim's work vehicle had an AT logo on it.
"We were extremely saddened to learn of the tragic death of one of our employees. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and coworkers," Meredith Red, a spokeswoman for AT, said in an email Saturday afternoon.
"We're working closely with the authorities to investigate what happened."
Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. David Smith said the man's family has not been notified of the death, and an autopsy had not been completed as of Saturday morning.
The man was found just before 3 p.m. Friday above the 6000 block of North Ventura Canyon Avenue, in the Valley Glen neighborhood.
