Feb. 10--Winger Artemi Panarin is the latest Blackhawk to join the sick ward.
And as a result, Panarin will miss Tuesday's game against the Sharks because of an illness.
Panarin is at least the fourth Hawk who has been affected by illness over the last month. Centers Artem Anisimov and Jonathan Toews and winger Jiri Sekac all missed time with various bugs.
Coach Joel Quenneville said he was not concerned with the outbreak of illness affecting the Hawks and pinned the problems on all the travel the Hawks have done recently. Since Jan. 14, the Hawks have played in nine road games.
"It's the schedule. We're busy with travel, numerous places," Quenneville said. "I think that's all part of it. You look around the league, you see a lot of guys missing games due to illness. ... Our trainers and our medical team are doing a tremendous job of preventing it."
With Panarin out, winger Sekac drew into the lineup. Sekac has played in just two games since the Hawks traded for him on Jan. 21. Sekac said he has not been frustrated while waiting for his time to play.
"I kind of know how to handle this and I try to control the things that I can control. That's all I can do ..." Sekac said. "The team is winning, it's probably way easier to come to a winning team than a losing team, so I'm pretty positive."
