BRIEF: Art Smith's Table Fifty-Two announces closing date

Dec. 17--Chef Art Smith's Table Fifty-Two (52 W. Elm St.) will host its final dinner on New Year's Eve and will reopen in 2016 as Blue Door Kitchen Garden.

"I feel that I've reached my peak at Table Fifty-Two," Smith said in a press release, adding that, after eight years running the restaurant, he's excited for a new challenge.

Blue Door Kitchen Garden will highlight food sourced from local farms, down to the ingredients used in the cocktails. It's a partnership between Smith and Ideology Entertainment Group, which runs Lincoln Park's Blue Door Farm Stand (reopening soon at a new location, 2010 N. Halsted St.) and Chicago Q in the Gold Coast.

The new restaurant is slated to open the third week of January, said Amy Wilcox, director of marketing and communications for Ideology.
