BRIEF: Are you sure your passport will be valid when you fly?

Sept. 23--The Chicago Passport Agency is taking part in National Passport Day on Saturday (Sept. 26), meaning it will accept walk-ins with no appointment for renewing or applying for a passport. If you already have a passport, check now to see when it expires, because most countries require that a passport be valid at least six months after the conclusion of your trip. That requirement catches a lot of people by surprise, and the anxiety of trying to get a passport renewed at the last minute is not fun.

Passport Day is your chance. The office is on the 18th floor of the Kluczynski Federal Building at 230 S. Dearborn St. in Chicago. Phone: 877-487-2778. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information: http://tinyurl.com/chicagopassport.
