BRIEF: App lets you know your flight seatmate, before you board

Oct. 30--A smartphone app now could let you see who will be sitting next to you on your flight, aimed at nosy fliers and those who dread the uncertainty of who their seatmate might be.

Quicket, based in Munich, introduced a new feature to its travel app this week that offers Facebook check-in.

Once a seat is chosen on a flight, Quicket lets users see who's going to be sitting next to them, with an optional link to their Facebook profile, if that passenger allows it on their own Quicket app.

So, the usefulness of that feature depends on how popular the app is with passengers on your flight and whether they opted to share information about themselves.

"Imagine you're sitting on the plane watching people come down the aisle," Quicket says in a news release. "You know what you're thinking -- 'Please, please don't let that be the person who's sitting next to me.'"

The company claims the app's new feature could allay that anxiety.

Users can also log in anonymously, enabling them to view other passengers' Facebook information without providing their own.
