Feb. 25--Laguna Beach will hold another in a series of public workshops on March 1 as it revises an ordinance regarding the preservation of historic houses to comply with state and federal standards.
The city's Heritage Committee will discuss whether certain types of houses that are not eligible for listing on Laguna's historic register should still be protected and what the implications might be for the property owners.
The city is focusing on houses at least 45 years old that carry architectural, archaeological, cultural or aesthetic significance, according to the draft ordinance.
For example, a home may have a "unique location or singular physical characteristic or represents in its location an established and familiar visual feature of the neighborhood, community, or city, " the draft ordinance said.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers, 505 Forest Ave.
