BRIEF: Angels' Jered Weaver parts ways with Simi Valley home

Jan. 23--Angels ace Jered Weaver has sold a home in Simi Valley for $610,750.

Weaver, who grew up in Simi Valley and attended Simi Valley High School, put the four-bedroom home on the market in November for $614,500 and closed sale shortly before the new year. He paid $649,500 for the property in 2006, the same year he made his debut for the Angels.

The brick-lined residence, built in 1985, sits back from the street on about a quarter of an acre with a large yard and a pool. The 2,014 square feet of living space sports an updated kitchen with granite counters, a breakfast nook, a living room with a fireplace and a dining room.

Weaver, 32, tied with 2014 Cy Young Award-winner Corey Kluber and Max Scherzer for American League wins with 18 last year. He holds a 131-69 record with an ERA of 3.28 in nine seasons with the Angels, making three all-star teams.

Christopher Boyd of Troop Real Estate was the listing agent. Elena Acosta of Century 21 Hilltop represented the buyer in the sale.

Last year, the right-handed pitcher sold a three-bedroom home in Newport Coast for $1.6 million. He maintains a residence in Westlake Village nearby his brother, former Angels and Dodgers pitcher Jeff Weaver.
