May 30--The Broadway version of the Academy Award-winning musical "An American in Paris" is the toast of the Great White Way with 12 Tony nominations. And on May 31 at the Egyptian Theatre, the American Cinematheque and the Art Directors Guild Film Society are paying homage to the 1951 classic's Oscar-winning designers, E. Preston Ames and Cedric Gibbons, and costume designer Irene Sharaff with a special screening and panel discussion. Production designer Thomas A. Walsh moderates the event, which will feature Patricia Ward Kelly, the widow of star and choreographer Gene Kelly, scenic artist John Moffitt, costume designer Mikael Sharafyan and cinematographer/film historian Michael Lonzo.
