Sept. 04--This week's Showcase features Jay W. Cullen, Luke Linsteadt, and Steven Perkins from The Hypocrites' production of "American Idiot." Green Day's punk-rock-opera, based on the Grammy Award winning album, follows three lifelong friends pulled between the discontentment of suburbia and false promises of the big city in a post-9/11 world.
In this video, the trio sings an acoustic version of "Wake Me Up When September Ends," a song that falls near the end of the musical as the friends reflect on the aftermath of their initial rebellion.
"American Idiot" opens Sept. 6 at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., and plays through Oct. 25.
