April 20--Authorities in Northern California issued an Amber Alert for a boy who was inside his father's car sleeping when it was stolen early Monday in Fairfield. The California Highway Patrol issued the alert for the following counties: Solano, Yolo, Contra Costa, Sacramento and Napa.
The boy, Brock Guzman, 8, and the car vanished about 4:45 a.m. when the father was dropping him off at his mother's house, said Fairfield police Officer Kathryn McCormick.
The boy had fallen asleep on the ride back to his mother's house, McCormick said. When they arrived, the father said he left the child inside the car with the engine running while he went inside for a moment.
That's when someone jumped in and drove off, police said.
The vehicle is a 2001 silver Toyota Corolla with license plate 5BWF072. The boy is described as 5-foot-1, 110 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, blue pants and possibly a robe.
Anyone with information on the boy's whereabouts should immediately call 911.
