BRIEF: Alinea tickets go on sale at 11 a.m.

May 18--If you want to be one of the first people to experience the new iteration of Alinea (1723 N. Halsted St.), start limbering up those keyboard fingers.

Tickets for the restaurant's first eight days of service (beginning Friday) will go on sale at 11 a.m. Wednesday (in about an hour, in other words) here.

Owner Nick Kokonas says he's releasing only 60 percent of the restaurant's capacity, to ensure smooth service. The restaurant will be up to full capacity in June.

Handy tip: If you don't have a working profile on Tock, the prepaid ticketing system that Alinea uses (and Kokonas designed), establish one now. Otherwise, when you log in at 11, by the time you input all the required information, the tickets will be gone.

Yes, gone. Sixty-percent capacity times eight days of service equals very few tickets. This sale will be measured in nanoseconds. Be prepared.

Tickets for June are expected to go on sale sometime next week.
