BRIEF: Alicia Silverstone filming indie movie 'Who Gets the Dog?' in Chicago

Jan. 28--Alicia Silverstone is scheduled to film the indie romantic comedy "Who Gets the Dog?" in Chicago beginning next week.

The movie will revolve around a divorcing couple who is fighting over custody of their dog. The 38-year-old Silverstone is best known for playing high schooler Cher in 1995's "Clueless" and more recently had a reoccurring role in the ABC sitcom "Suburgatory." "Who Gets the Dog?" will be produced by Reid Brody and Bill Ryan, who also produced the Chicago-based indie comedy "Bad Johnson."

"Alicia Silverstone brings a perfect blend of comedy and heart to a wonderful movie that is extremely relatable, dealing not only with relationships, but our love of pets and the role they play in families," Brody told Variety.

Brody told me via email Wednesday that the entire movie will shoot in Chicago.

"Who Gets the Dog?" is currently looking for extras. According to ExtraOrdinary Casting, the movie needs adults of all ages and ethnicities for filming Monday through Feb. 19, newborns, most likely for filming Feb. 19, and boys 7-11 years old who play ice hockey, most likely for Monday, Tuesday and Feb. 18.
