BRIEF: Al Louis-Jean gets vote of confidence from Bears

Feb. 04--The Chicago Bears signed cornerback Al Louis-Jean to a two-year contract extension Wednesday, offering at least a small vote of confidence in a player the team landed last spring as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College.

As a rookie with the Bears, Louis-Jean played in nine games and recorded 11 tackles and a pass break-up. Louis-Jean is 6-foot-1 and 187 pounds and his length and athleticism can be an asset.

With a new deal signed, the 21-year-old defensive back will battle to see where he fits in the Bears' defense, which will be assembled by new general manager Ryan Pace, overseen by new head coach John Fox and run by new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

In other news, the Bears also announced that Rick Perry has reached an agreement to become the team's assistant strength coach. Perry spent the past five seasons as the director of strength and conditioning at Central Michigan.
