BRIEF: After SWAT standoff, suspect arrested in deaths of two in San Diego

Nov. 28--San Diego police arrested a suspect early Friday morning in the fatal shooting of a man and a woman in their home in the Point Loma neighborhood.

The 22-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, was found walking in a nearby street, armed with a handgun, police said. He was arrested without incident.

Soon after the 3 a.m. shooting, the police SWAT squad, along with police dogs and a helicopter with infrared scope, searched the neighborhood. Residents were warned to stay in their homes.

Police had been alerted to the shooting by an emergency call made by one of the victims, said Lt. Paul Rorrison. "The dispatcher could hear the sound of gunshots," he said.

Police declined to discuss a motive or whether the suspect was related to the victims, who were in their 60s. The two were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.

The suspect was arrested at 7:45 a.m.
