BRIEF: After some uncertainty, Theo Ubique's 'Rent' will extend

April 04--After an announced month-long extension and then a cancellation of that extension, Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre has announced again that its sold-out production of "Rent" will escape its May 1 eviction notice.

The show will now play through May 15 at the No Exit Cafe in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The extension, which the theater said was blocked by an upcoming non-Equity tour of "Rent," was approved by licensing company Music Theatre International after a request from original "Rent" producer Kevin McCollum, spurred by his associate producer Lucas McMahon. Although a decision-maker when it comes to "Rent" rights, McCollum is not directly involved in the non-Equity tour.

The original Theo Ubique cast will continue its roles in the two-week extension. Tickets are currently on sale at www.theo-u.org.
