BRIEF: Adler adds tickets to sold-out 'Star Wars' screening

Nov. 20--The Adler Planetarium has added tickets for its sold-out "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" event that includes a screening of the movie.

The Adler After Dark event Dec. 17 includes an unofficial movie release party with costumed characters and "Star Wars"-inspired beer, transportation between the planetarium and the ShowPlace ICON Theatre in the South Loop and a seat for a late-night screening of the movie.

Tickets cost $59. Tickets for the event without the movie screening cost $15 for Adler members and $20 for non-members. All attendees must be at least 21 years old.

Tickets initially went on sale in October for the screening and sold out in nine days, an Adler spokeswoman said. Another theater was added this week. The event without the screening did not sell out.

The seventh installment in the "Star Wars" franchise is slated to open in most theaters the evening of Dec. 17. Advance sales for the movie have broken some ticket records.
