BRIEF: Adina Aaron performs 'Summertime' from 'Porgy and Bess'

Dec. 16--This Theater Loop Showcase video is soprano Adina Aaron from "Porgy and Bess" at Lyric Opera.

In George and Ira Gershwin's 1935 opera set in South Carolina, the title characters have led turbulent lives apart. Bess has been with a destructive husband, Crown, while Porgy has lived in poverty with a disability. Once thrown into each other's lives, they make a harmonious couple, and finally achieve some semblance of normalcy -- for a while, anyway. Bess (Aaron) sings this song, the classic "Summertime," to a child just as her life is about to take an unexpected turn.

"Porgy and Bess" plays Lyric Opera through Dec. 20.

We filmed this video in our studio in Tribune Tower.
