BRIEF: Adam Scott returns to long putter for Masters

April 01--The Masters is neither the time nor the place to experiment with your game, so it makes sense that Adam Scott plans to return to using an anchored putter at Augusta National next week.

Scott announced his intentions to the Australian Associated Press on Wednesday, saying it was "maybe the smarter thing to do."

The world's sixth-ranked golfer knows his time with the anchored putter is growing short -- golf will ban the long stick beginning in 2016. Scott used a shorter, traditional putter in his first three PGA Tour events this year.

But a missed cut at the Valspar Championship and a tie for 35th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational may have persuaded him to return to more-familiar equipment.

Scott used an anchored putter to win his first green jacket at the Masters in 2013.

"I am going back as a previous champion for the rest of my life and I have played the course really well over the last five years now," he said.
