BRIEF: Adam LaRoche officially in fold for White Sox

Nov. 25--The White Sox made their signing of Adam LaRoche official on Tuesday while clearing a roster spot by designating right-hander Scott Carroll for assignment.

The 35-year-old LaRoche, who will replace Adam Dunn as a left-handed hitting DH and part-time first baseman, received a two-year, $25 million deal with $12 million coming in 2015. He hit .259 last year with Washington with 26 home runs, tying for fifth in the National League with 92 RBI.

Carroll went 5-10 with a 4.80 earned-run average in 26 games, including 19 starts.

The Sox roster now stands at 40.
